DAVID TURNBULL director
David Turnbull is a director of ATOPIA (design<>communication<>urbanism). He has considerable experience in the field of communications, architecture and urban design and has worked extensively in the UK, Japan, SEAsia, the Middle East, Europe and the USA. He has specific expertise in the area of new lifestyles and the way that individual buildings and new patterns of development take advantage from advances in telecommunications and digital media. His academic appointments include the Eero Saarinen Visiting Professorship in Architecture at Yale University, and a Visiting Professorship in Architecture and Television at the University of Toronto, Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in New York, USA, and Professor of Architecture at the University of Bath in the UK. David Turnbull contributed to ‘Designing for a Digital World’ ed. Leach (Wiley, 2002); and DOT.CITY ed. Langenbrick (Bauhaus 2004). He is co-editor of ‘Digital Tectonics’ (Wiley, 2004). He is currently Professor of Architecture at The Irwin S Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.
